Bienvenue,

My name is Tyana Awada and I’m a UI/UX designer. I’ve been working in the creative industry for almost ten years and I started my career in design as a technical and scientific illustrator.

After graduating from Sheridan College (twice!) I’ve had work published in magazines, journals, and for television. I was first introduced to the world of user experience design at IBM while working as a Junior Designer and I haven’t looked back since. Regardless of the task at hand, I find absolute joy in exercising my analytical, creative, and problem solving skills. In summation, one word to describe my passion: process.

Along with championing for human-centered design, I strive to be a holistic designer. In November of 2019, I had the privilege of listening to a talk by Molly Wright Steenson at CANUX. Molly spoke about the history of AI, it’s heavy influence in design, and her research studies at Carnegie Mellon University. She really put into perspective how far technology has come in the last 60 years and one thing she said that struck a chord with me was this:

Technology is the answer, but what was the question?

It’s a statement that is clear as day and as a designer, whenever I am iterating on concepts or creating new assets I ask myself this very question. It is a constant reminder to be mindful and thoughtful of the designs we put out into this world.
